This role sits within the Walt Disney Travel Company (International), part of Disney Destinations International (DDI), the division that brings Disney Parks, Resorts, and experiences to guests across EMEA.

We are seeking a Senior Web Application Developer to join our talented team based in Hammersmith, London, and play a pivotal role in the next phase of our web platform modernisation, evolving our eCommerce platform and portfolio of marketing microsites toward a modern ASP.NET MVC 5 and cloud‑native (Azure/AWS) architecture.

This is a permanent position located at our London office in Hammersmith, requiring four days of on‑site attendance per week.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Web Application Developer, you will lead the design, development, and optimisation of scalable, secure web applications that deliver seamless user experiences across multiple platforms.

You’ll work closely with product, marketing, and technology teams to craft elegant technical solutions that bring Disney’s digital experiences to life, maintaining the highest standards of performance, security, and reliability.

The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise, creative problem‑solving, and a forward‑thinking mindset, contributing to our long‑term journey toward a fully cloud‑ready environment. You will also help shape best coding practices, support team growth, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

  • Develop and maintain complex web solutions using ASP.NET MVC 5, C#, and React, delivering high‑quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
  • Contribute to the migration and modernisation of legacy systems, ensuring clean architecture, efficient implementation, and future scalability.
  • Apply SOLID principles, object‑oriented design, and industry best practices to build secure, performant, and fault‑tolerant systems.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Digital Product, Technology, Marketing) to define, estimate, and deliver features on time and to specification.
  • Participate in architectural discussions, proposing innovative improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop front‑end interfaces using modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React) to ensure engaging and responsive user experiences.
  • Integrate APIs and third‑party services, ensuring robust, efficient connectivity with external systems and platforms.
  • Manage source control, branching, and deployments using GitLab or Azure DevOps pipelines, ensuring seamless delivery across environments.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor junior and mid‑level developers, and ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, staging, and production environments, maintaining high levels of system stability.
  • Support smooth and stable release cycles across multiple websites and environments.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications Required
  • Professional development experience, with a strong track record in bespoke eCommerce or enterprise web applications.
  • Proven expertise in C#, ASP.NET MVC 5, SQL Server, and Entity Framework.
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and modern front‑end frameworks such as React (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
  • Experienced in RESTful API design and integration (SOAP and XML/XPath knowledge desirable).
  • Skilled with IoC containers (Autofac, Ninject) and unit testing frameworks (NUnit, Moq, SpecFlow).
  • Proficient in source control and dependency management (Git, GitFlow, SourceTree, NuGet).
  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (GitLab, Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Cake, Octopus).
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and issue tracking systems (Jira).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with proven experience in application and database performance tuning.
  • Experience with enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., SDL Tridion) beneficial.
