About the role:

TSA Riley is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Cambridge team. With a strong presence in the region, we collaborate with a diverse range of local, national, and global clients to manage and develop their built assets within the region.

This role offers the chance to work on an exciting variety of projects across multiple sectors, including education, healthcare and residential. You’ll gain experience in both new builds and refurbishments ensuring no two days are the same.

We’re looking for a qualified Quantity Surveyor with experience in carrying out cost management within a similar consultancy or client organisation. While RICS chartership is preferred, we welcome candidates working towards this and can offer full support to help you achieve this goal.

About your responsibilities:

  • Leading end‑to‑end commercial delivery, ensuring alignment with agreed scope, budget, and programme targets.
  • Overseeing cost planning, estimating, procurement, valuations, variations, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders through clear, responsive communication.
  • Applying sound judgement to identify and manage commercial risks, resolve issues, and capture opportunities early.
  • Driving financial performance through effective budget control, contract administration, and management of scope changes.
  • Using TSA Riley’s digital tools and systems to track costs, monitor risk, and support quality reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with project governance, quality, and safety frameworks from a commercial perspective.
  • Leading and supporting team members with clear direction, regular feedback, and a focus on development and high performance.
  • Supporting ongoing client growth by identifying opportunities and contributing to positive project outcomes.
  • Contributing to business growth by supporting pipeline development, participating in bids and pursuits, and advancing sector initiatives.

About You:

To fulfil this role, we are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a similar related discipline.
  • Have experience in delivering a full range of pre and post contract quantity surveying services in a consulting or client-side environment.
  • Are professionally accredited with RICS or actively progressing toward accreditation.
  • Have a deep understanding of cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration, including the ability to provide informed commercial advice across the project lifecycle.
  • Have a proven ability to manage commercial performance across complex projects, ensuring delivery against budget, scope, and client expectations.
  • Have a strong proficiency with digital tools and project systems to support financial tracking, reporting, coordination, and quality assurance.
  • Are skilled in navigating stakeholder complexity, resolving disputes, and aligning diverse interests to achieve commercial outcomes.
  • Have a reputation for leading small teams effectively and supporting junior members of staff.
  • Are actively building their professional reputation and connections through high-quality delivery, knowledge sharing, and industry engagement.
