Throughout 2025, OCU Group has been experiencing a sustained period of growth and expansion within the water and wastewater sector. Due to this and our continued work winning success, we currently have an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our team based in the North Wales.

You will be working closely with project managers, construction managers, and other stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of project plans, scope, objectives, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, client requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, to ensure efficient utilization and allocation of resources to meet project milestones and deliverables.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing risk management strategies and contingency plans to minimize project disruptions and ensure successful project delivery.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, local authorities, community groups, and project team members, to facilitate collaboration, address concerns, and resolve conflicts.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures on project sites, conducting risk assessments, implementing safe work practices, and promoting a culture of safety among project team members and subcontractors.

  • Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance, tracking costs, forecasting variances, and implementing cost-control measures to optimize project profitability and financial outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, timelines, and critical path analyses, monitoring progress, identifying deviations, and implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track and within schedule.

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to project teams, engineers, designers, and consultants, resolving technical issues, reviewing engineering designs, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and standards.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and approvals for water-related projects, implementing environmental management plans and mitigation measures to minimize environmental impacts and protect natural resources.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and reports, including project plans, progress reports, change orders, and meeting minutes, and communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and management as required.

Skills and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree or higher qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, or a related field is typically required. Professional certification or chartered status may be advantageous.

  • Extensive experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering water-related projects of varying size and complexity. Previous experience in the water industry or infrastructure sector is highly desirable.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire project teams, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of water engineering principles, water treatment processes, wastewater treatment technologies, hydraulic modeling, and environmental regulations relevant to water-related projects.

  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards governing water management, environmental protection, health and safety, and construction in the UK.

  • Proficiency in contract negotiation, administration, and management, with a good understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and experience in managing contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyze data, evaluate options, and develop effective solutions to complex technical, logistical, and organizational challenges.

  • Strong customer focus and relationship-building skills, with the ability to understand and meet client needs, build trust and credibility, and deliver high-quality services that exceed client expectations.
