Job description
📣 A Bit About The Role.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the Retention Product Team at Butternut Box – the group responsible for ensuring customers stay in love with our product. You’ll own and improve the post-sign‑up experience from onboarding and account management to loyalty, churn deflection, and reactivation – driving measurable impact on retention, engagement, and lifetime value (LTV). This is a high‑impact, cross‑functional role within our Growth Product group, reporting to the Head of Product. You’ll shape strategy, prioritise initiatives, and work hands‑on with design and engineering to ship meaningful work quickly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own all digital product work focused on retention, including:
    • Customer account and app experience
    • Plan and delivery management
    • Onboarding flows and engagement features
    • Loyalty, churn deflection, and reactivation journeys
  • Lead a cross‑functional squad (1 designer, 5 engineers) through the full product lifecycle – from discovery to sprint delivery, QA, and release.
  • Partner closely with CRM, Data Science, and Customer Love teams to create a cohesive retention strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a clear 6–12 month roadmap that connects customer needs to business outcomes.
  • Use data and experimentation (A/B tests, analytics, insight) to identify opportunities and drive improvement.
  • Balance short‑term experiments with long‑term strategic thinking, sequencing work for maximum impact.
  • Champion a culture of learning, iteration, and accountability within the team.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience owning retention, loyalty, or lifecycle features within a subscription or growth‑driven B2C/D2C product.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen – understand LTV, retention metrics, and how product performance ladders up to P&L impact.
  • Experienced in A/B testing and structured experimentation.
  • Comfortable working directly with design and engineering, writing tickets, and managing delivery.
  • Confident using (or learning) tools like Amplitude, Looker, or equivalent analytics platforms.
  • Excellent communicator and stakeholder management – credible with senior leaders and trusted by teams.
  • Evidence of working effectively in fast‑paced, high‑ownership environments (scale‑ups or entrepreneurial teams).
👋 A Bit About You.
  • Are customer‑obsessed – you instinctively dig into why customers stay, leave, or return.
  • Bring strategic clarity – can connect vision to actionable roadmaps.
  • Are commercially sharp and data‑driven, comfortable making trade‑offs between pace and impact.
  • Thrive in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments, unblocking yourself and others quickly.
  • Have high EQ – communicate with empathy, influence effectively, and build trust across teams.
  • Have a natural bias for action and a desire to make tangible impact.
