Flux Computing designs and manufactures optical processors to train and run inference on large AI models. Join us to be part of a highly motivated and skilled team that thrives on delivering impact and innovation at speed.

The Role

We’re looking for a Process Engineer – Optoelectronics to design novel GaAs-based VCSELs, detectors, and passive components that sit at the heart of our OTPUs and develop the rapid-fabrication processes that bring those designs to life. Your mission is to go from CAD to measured die in days, iterate fast, and feed insights directly back into the next design spin.

Responsibilities
  • Device design & simulation – create and refine electro‑optical structures; balance optical, electrical, and thermal constraints for first‑pass success.
  • Prototype‑first process execution & optimisation – run quick cycles of thin‑film deposition (sputtering / e‑beam), UV photolithography, lift‑off, dry etch (ICP‑RIE / RIE), wet etch chemistries, wafer thinning, and metallisation for GaAs device stacks.
  • Process development – plan DOEs, define SPC limits, and establish repeatable recipes that can scale from R&D to pilot.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration – work side‑by‑side with IC, packaging, and test teams to ensure devices integrate cleanly with CMOS control and board‑level builds.
  • Documentation & knowledge sharing – log process changes, run design / process reviews.
  • Cross‑functional integration – partner with analogue IC, packaging, and systems engineers to ensure seamless GaAs‑to‑CMOS co‑integration.
  • Mentorship & reviews – guide junior engineers; run regular process reviews and FMEA sessions.
  • Stay ahead of the curve – monitor industry advances in III‑V growth, dry‑etch chemistries, and photonics packaging to keep Flux at the bleeding edge.
Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of hands‑on III‑V semiconductor process engineering in ISO 4/5/6 (Class 10/100/1000) cleanrooms.
  • Practical experience with at least three of the following: UV photolithography, dry etching, selective wet etching, thin‑film sputtering/evaporation, wafer thinning, lift‑off metallisation.
  • Proven record taking optoelectronic devices (VCSEL, PIN/APD, modulators, or photonic MEMS) from concept to prototype.
  • Comfortable with JMP/Python for DOE, SPC, and data visualisation; familiar with ISO‑14644, SEMI, and safety protocols for III‑V toxics.
  • B.Eng./M.Sc./Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication; thrive in fast‑paced, cross‑disciplinary start‑up settings.
  • Bonus: experience interfacing GaAs dies with flip‑chip or SiPh interposers.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with numerical simulation tools (e.g., FDTD, RCWA, TCAD, BPM) and optical/electrical characterisation techniques (L‑I‑V curves, spectral and near‑field imaging, high‑speed testing).

Due to U.S. export control regulations, candidates’ eligibility to work at Flux depends on their most recent citizenship or permanent residency status. We are generally unable to consider applicants whose most recent citizenship or permanent residence is in certain restricted countries (currently including Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Venezuela). Applicants who have subsequently obtained citizenship or permanent residency in another country not subject to these restrictions may still be eligible.

We do not accept unsolicited CVs from recruitment agencies, will not be liable for any fees, and prohibit unauthorised use of our company name in recruitment activities.

We’re building fast and that includes our benefits. More exciting additions are coming soon for the Flux crew.

If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what's possible in AI and thrive in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment, we want to hear from you. Apply now to join Flux and be a key player in shaping the future of computing.
