Job description

This is a great opportunity for a skilled and professional planner to manage, negotiate and assess a varied caseload of complex and major planning applications that will shape the future of our city.

York has an outstanding built and natural environment and our planners have a crucial role in balancing significant development pressures with the city’s special qualities and the challenge of climate change.

In addition to holding a degree and an RTPI recognised professional planning qualification you will have an extensive knowledge of the planning system and experience of dealing with a wide range of planning proposals including ‘major’ applications.

Candidates should possess or be eligible for RTPI membership. The post offers flexible working from home and at our city centre offices.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
