Requirements

You will have a degree or equivalent in Town Planning along with a chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the promotion of sustainable economic development and the protection of the environment through the delivery of the Council's Development System. Working within the Development Management function of the Planning Team, you will be responsible for dealing with particularly complex and/or large scale planning applications. You will also provide an element of supervision, coaching and mentoring for Planning and Enforcement Officers. You will also deputise for the Principal Planning Officer where required.

The Individual

You will have relevant post‑qualification experience in a planning role, an excellent knowledge of the Scottish Development Management system, and experience of dealing with large scale and/or complex planning applications. You will have good written communication skills, with the ability to draft reports to a high standard, work under pressure and demonstrate leadership skills. You will have a commitment to keep up to date with planning legislation and learn new practice as required and occasional requirement to attend evening meetings.
