Senior Planner - Balfour Beatty VINCI

Balfour Beatty VINCI is a joint venture focused on delivering critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK. We are working on a 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2, enabling high‑speed trains to travel between London and Birmingham and beyond to Manchester.

We are looking for a Senior Planner to join our PMO Function onsite in Birmingham. The role is key to ensuring project performance, risk management and compliance with HS2 requirements.

Role responsibilities:
  • Establish and implement the planning responsibilities document.
  • Coordinate and update programmes with performance during the Stage 2 period.
  • Ensure compliance to HS2 requirements.
  • Contribute to developing risk and opportunities, QSRA and QCRA analysis.
  • Support the production and delivery of the Performance Measurement Baseline and updates.
  • Ensure the Programme captures scope management and aligns with BIM.
  • Capture and integrate current and forecast programme, budget, cost, and risk at asset and sub‑asset level.
  • Promote best practice and innovation.
  • Assist with the development of all planning and project control staff.
  • Coach and support project control and planning staff, as required.
  • Set up appropriate lean, coordinated and visual performance metrics to help the Project Team deliver projects timely and improve performance.
  • Effectively use IT and systems to gather, report, and ensure accurate project performance data.
Experienced required
  • Computer literacy: Primavera (all versions), Microsoft Project, Word/Excel, TiLOS, Synchro.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Substantial site experience, including senior discipline planner roles.
  • Aptitude for logic and attention to detail.
  • Experience of planning and project control services within large complex environments within construction and engineering.
  • Understanding of various forms of tender, contract documents and specifications.
  • Good understanding of various methods of project controls, planning and performance reporting.
  • Understanding of risk and opportunity management.
  • Understanding of the events that initiate, and the methods used to demonstrate, delay or change entitlement.
