Senior Occupational Health Nurse – Part-time - Cardiff

iGP Occupational Health are expanding in the South Wales area and as such an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated Occupational Health Nurse Adviser (OHNA) to join our team in Cardiff and surrounding areas on a part-time basis.

As a Senior OHNA within the iGP, you will play a crucial role in supporting employees with any short- or long-term conditions and managers with fulfilling their legislative requirements and wellbeing programs. You will provide holistic reports to management regarding sickness absence, advice on managing medical conditions in the workplace, reviewing post-offer health questionnaires, and undertaking various types of medicals.

The role will include site visits, working from our Cardiff office and some home working. You must have a full UK driving licence and be able to work independently, but will have regular Clinical Supervision and lots of support from the OH Lead, OHP and rest of the team.

There will be a maximum of 5 management referrals per day with a minimum of 30 mins admin time. The salary is very competitive and will depend on the experience of the successful candidate.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and confirmed fitness to practice with no restrictions.
  • A Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health Practice and have at least three years’ experience in working in an Occupational Health setting.

  • Able to communicate effectively, professionally and clearly, both verbally and in writing, avoiding jargon.

Clinical

  • To practice high standards of client care in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings.
  • To display positivity, confidence, assertiveness, the ability to be motivational and have emotional intelligence, appropriate level of enthusiasm and be able to demonstrate empathy.
  • Ability to write holistic and comprehensive management reports with signposting as appropriate.
  • To recognise a ‘cause for concern’ and act appropriately whether it is of a physical or psychological nature.
  • To be able to write to GP’s or Specialists requesting medical reports in line with the Access to Medical Reports Act and GDPR.
  • Competence in facilitating a health surveillance program in accordance with legislation, and safety critical medicals including Audiometry and Spirometry. (A qualification in Tier 3 HAVS would be beneficial, but not essential).
  • Able to administer Vaccinations for work and wellbeing programs and engage in Phlebotomy.

Technical

  • To have good IT skills especially with use of Microsoft Office packages including Teams, Word, Excel, (power point is desirable but not essential) and have experience of using digital management systems or confidence to use a system following training and support.
  • To assist the OH Lead with implementation of a Patient Management System.
  • To update Occupational Health Clinical records and assist with retention and destruction of records as per Policy.
  • To assist the business to attain the SEQOHS accreditation.
  • Stock monitoring and assistance with ordering as needed.
  • Must have a full UK driving licence and the ability to drive to the workplace independently.
  • Ability to speak Welsh would be beneficial.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Data Protection and GDPR. Value confidentiality, with previous experience of working with sensitive personal data and obtaining consent within the occupational health setting.
  • Have a good Theoretical and practical knowledge regarding a variety of health conditions, both physical and psychological and ability to signpost for further support appropriately.

Pay: From £45,000.00 per year. (Starting)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.
