Job summary

A leading machinery manufacturer in Harlow is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. You will lead the design of complex machinery and ensure compliance with safety regulations while mentoring junior engineers. Candidates should have strong skills in mechanical design and proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical. This role offers up to £55,000 per annum.

Permanent | Up to £55,000 per annum (DOE)

Our client, a leading manufacturer of bespoke machinery, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. This is a key role for a seasoned professional who thrives on designing innovative special purpose equipment and conveyor systems, and who can take ownership of projects from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of complex machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings in line with ISO standards.
  • Specify proprietary components and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), ideally using SAP.
  • Ensure all designs comply with current HSE machinery safety regulations.
  • Provide technical support during production, assembly, and testing phases.
  • Prepare layout drawings, technical manuals, and risk assessments.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience in mechanical design for special purpose machinery.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong detailing skills across machined, fabricated, and sheet metal components.
  • Solid understanding of machinery safety standards and risk assessment procedures.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to mentor junior engineers (a plus).
