Overview

Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer — Location: Flexible + Hybrid Working Arrangement. Role Type: Full time / Permanent. Role ID: SF57033. Lead the Future of Nuclear Engineering. Based at one of Cavendish Nuclear's key locations: Moor Row (Cumbria), Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire) or Bristol.

The role

As a Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you lead the design, integration and maintenance of high-integrity EC&I systems across nuclear facilities. This is a career-defining opportunity to deliver engineering excellence in a safety-critical environment, where your work directly supports national defence, clean energy and the future of sustainable infrastructure.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Deliver high-quality administrative and coordination support across projects and teams.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting in line with company standards.
  • Monitor progress against deadlines and proactively resolve issues to keep tasks on track.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes.

This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week. Hybrid working patterns are available, with an expectation of three days on site. Travel to customer sites may be required depending on project needs.

Essential experience
  • Design and deliver EC&I systems in regulated environments
  • Apply nuclear safety standards such as IEC 61508 and BS EN 61511
  • Work within cross-functional teams on complex engineering projects
  • Engage with regulators, clients and suppliers to resolve technical challenges
  • Produce and review technical documentation including specifications and safety case contributions
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (preferred)
