The Company currently writes lines of business including; specialty insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, terror & political violence, contingency and other specialty lines; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, specialty reinsurance, whole account/multi-class and bespoke.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Asset Backed Finance & Portfolio Credit Underwriting, the primary purpose of the role is to assist in underwriting our growing cyber portfolio of business. Additionally, you will support on multiple lines of Bespoke & Specialty business. This could be treaties, fac or binder or lineslip opportunities. Insurance, reinsurance or retro.

Role Responsibilities

  • Participate in the underwriting process, triage, evaluation, and presentation of opportunities, analyzing and interpreting exposures, determining coverage and appropriate contract language with our Wordings team.
  • Assist and work with Actuarial team with their risk modeling and pricing the deals.
  • Originate, leverage, build and maintain broker and client relationships.
  • Monitor market developments and remain current regarding knowledge of relevant classes of business and associated legislation and regulatory changes / requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of underwriting data in TFP underwriting systems.
  • Assist with the preparation and issue of NBIs, line-slips, binders and treaties on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Expand our existing portfolio of business by developing existing relationships and new prospective clients through visits, entertainment and conferences as appropriate.
  • Share with the supervising and/or mentoring of junior members of the TFP team.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external underwriting regulations, liaising as appropriate with external bodies such as brokers, clients, auditors, and regulators as required.
  • Assist with strategic initiatives as needed to promote business growth.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and progress towards ACII or other relevant commercial insurance industry designations.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ in a (re)insurance broking or underwriting capacity
  • Previous London Insurance Market experience highly desirable.
  • Team player with the ability to work flexibly to meet business needs as required.
  • Good knowledge of commercial insurance, reinsurance and regulatory requirements.
  • Established (re)insurance networks and strong existing relationships with brokers and clients, and ability to independently manage meetings.
  • Proficient understanding of the international underwriting marketplace.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a working knowledge of and ability to interpret the outputs of pricing models, and the statistical skills necessary to perform analyses on first principles.
  • Proven negotiator, with demonstrated ability to attract new business and retain clients.
  • Basic competency in MS Office applications: Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills when dealing with key stake holders internally and externally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups.
