Job description

Due to career progression we currently have a vacancy for a 22.2 hour per week Senior Charge Midwife. Primarily this post is for the Clinical Coordination of the Inpatient Maternity Service but can be rotational.

NHS Fife maternity is a modern, thriving and progressive unit with approximately 3000 births per year. The services includes outpatient and community services, and multi faceted inpatient services which include a complex care Consultant Unit and an alongside Midwife Led Unit

We also have our own Elective Caesarean Section team as well as a separate Induction of Labour Suite.

Last year our maternity triage unit provided over 17,000 triage phone assessments and in excess of 7000 face to face consultations.

We are a fast paced thriving unit, looking for a motivated, experienced midwife to assist, lead, nurture and develop our service. To continually provide a high level of care and meet the changing needs of pregnant woman and families of whom we serve. We are looking for an individual who has the knowledge and capabilities to guide and support our staff to maintain this level of skill.

You will have clinical, professional and managerial responsibility on an ongoing basis, including all clinical and staff governance issues.

The Maternity co-ordinator ensures capacity and flow and a seamless patient journey. You will have close working relationships with all grades of medical staff and collaborate in the review and writing of departmental guidelines.

We will encourage you with your professional development education via our dedicated clinical midwife educator and midwifery PEF. We have an extremely successful in house leadership programme and regularly encourage staff to participate in external networking.

You must be an experienced NMC Registered Midwife, educated to degree level. In addition you should possess enthusiasm, excellent team working skills with effective communication.
