Job summary

A leading care organization in Bedford is looking for a Senior Support Worker to lead in the care and support of service users. The role involves monitoring health conditions, drafting care plans, and coordinating shifts while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of service users. Candidates should have a relevant qualification in Health and Social Care and experience in a care role. This position offers flexibility in working hours and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those supported.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for allocated service users and lead in their care and support.
  • Monitor service user's condition and communicate changes.
  • Draft and review care/support plans with the service user.
  • Complete regular reports about service users' progress.
  • Lead weekly 1:1 review meetings.
  • Follow company policy for safety during lone working.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for service users and staff.
  • Plan and prepare balanced meals for service users.
  • Engage service users in daily living activities.
  • Coordinate shifts in absence of line manager.
  • Ensure safety and wellbeing of service users, raising alerts as needed.
  • Advocate for services users and support access to agencies.
  • Liaise with service users’ families regarding care and risks.
  • Attend health and social care appointments with service users.
  • Convene and minute service user meetings.
  • Administer medication as per company policy.
  • Participate in service audits and reviews.
  • Lead team of support workers and monitor performance.
  • Support deputy manager with duty rota.
  • Deputize for deputy manager as needed.
  • Create and submit material for social media.

Skills

Ability to get on with people of all ages and backgrounds
Previous experience of working within a care role
Practical and flexible approach to work
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work on own and take initiative
Experience of supervising a team

Education

Health and Social Care L2 Qualification or equivalent qualification/experience
Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
Ability to use Microsoft Office – Word and Excel
Experience of PASS software (desirable)
