Job summary

A telecommunications company in the UK, is seeking Self Employed FTTH Engineers to handle the installation and maintenance of telecom services on the Openreach network. The role involves working with both residential and business customers, ensuring quality and safety during network build-outs and customer installations. Ideal candidates will have experience with PIA networks and strong communication skills. A commitment to customer care and adherence to safety procedures is essential.

Qualifications

  • NRSWASLG and PIA Accreditations are preferable.
  • Additional accreditations such as A001, S8, SA051C are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Install new telecom services by running overhead lines and subducting protected ducts.
  • Visit customers’ homes or businesses to set up internal cabling.
  • Work with live network infrastructures, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Record work and maintain information accuracy in systems.

This role falls under theConstruction Industry Scheme (CIS)

We are looking for Self Employed FTTH (Fibre to the Home) Engineers to work on the Openreach network with both residential and business customers, handling the full installation and maintenance of telecom services. You’ll work across Full Fibre networks, delivering end-to-end solutions.

About you
  • Qualifications: NRSWASLG and PIA Accreditations are preferable. You must have experience with both overhead and underground PIA networks. Additional accreditations such as A001, S8, SA051C, SA002, SA007, S7, N022, SA020, N037, and K008 are highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Strong practical knowledge of telecom networks, proficiency with power tools and basic IT skills for using mobile job management apps.
  • Communication & Customer Care: Excellent communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers, the public, and stakeholders.

What’s involved
  • Network Build-outs: Install new telecom services by running overhead lines on utility poles, subducting protected ducts underground, all involving hands-on, physical work.
  • Customer installations: Visit our customers’ homes or businesses to set up internal cabling and make sure their new services are working perfectly.
  • Network Maintenance: Work with live network infrastructures— ducts, and poles.
  • Quality & Safety: Follow strict safety procedures, and ensure all equipment is safe to use. You’ll also help restore sites, leaving every location clean and safe for our customers.
  • Reporting & Admin: Use our systems to record your work and keep information up to date in a timely manner.

Payments under CIS: Tax will be deducted from your pay before you receive it, and the contractor will pay this directly to HMRC on your behalf.
