Job Title: Security Officer

Location: Brixton

Rate: £13.85 per hour

Contracted Hours: Avg 42 hours per week on a shift basis

Role

Working within the heart of Brixton at a vibrant and unique location, you will provide security services for a multi‑tenant and multi‑use site. You will support the delivery of a truly exceptional customer journey for both staff and visitors. To achieve this, you will be/become well‑versed in the processes and practices of a security professional. Excellence in customer service will be at the heart of the role. You will be part of a well‑drilled security operation.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to staff and visitors. This is a fundamental aspect of the role.
  • Take an active interest in, and give commitment to the client and tenants.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to all tasks or challenges.
  • Be highly presentable, accountable; take responsibility and ownership for any tasks identified or allocated.
  • Ensure all contact, be it internal or external; by telephone, face to face or any other medium; is clear, courteous, polite, professional and respectful.
  • Appropriate use of CCTV/access control and any other electronic management system, and completion of reports and documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Be familiar with all Security and Emergency procedures on site and assist in the facilitation of their safe execution and practice. There may also be a need to become a fire marshal and first aider if applicable all training will be provided.
  • All Assignment Instructions / Operations Manual or Standard Operating Procedures are to be reviewed, understood and followed.
  • To complete any other reasonable task as instructed by your line manager or other Senior Manager, either Unitrust or at the request of the client and/or tenants.
  • To act with integrity and in the best interests of the company in a safe, compliant and ethical manner.
  • To be resilient to working in the most sensitive environments, dealing with any conflict with a respectful and empathic approach at all times.
Security Specific Responsibilities
  • Welcome and assist staff, clients, tenants and visitors to the premises in a warm and courteous fashion maintaining excellence as a standard throughout the customer journey.
  • Ensuring that no unauthorised persons are permitted in prohibited areas.
  • Check identity and credentials of staff, contractors and visitors where required. Work with all colleagues to ensure the integrity of security on the site.
  • Early identification and mitigation of any threats to persons, premises or property, escalating where appropriate to do so.
  • Have an outstanding knowledge of the premises (inside and external) and able to assist staff, clients, tenants and visitors with their queries.
  • Respond to alarms.
  • Key control.
  • Record details of any suspected criminal activity on the premises (internal and external); commencing investigative procedures prior to onward reporting where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain positive interactive relationships with all staff, visitors, tenants, service providers and clients.
  • Have good knowledge of the local area to be able to answer queries regarding local transport links or services in the area for example.
  • Building patrols. Patrolling internal and external areas of the assignment checking for good housekeeping, building faults or health and safety issues.

  • Demonstrate an awareness of security threats which remain relevant and up to date in the context of the current environment.
  • Flexibility in regard to working practices, hours and responsibilities.
  • Valid SIA frontline security licence.
