Role Description

This is a full‑time site‑based role for a Section Engineer based in Bridgwater, Somerset. The Section Engineer will manage junior engineers and assist the Sub‑Agent in construction operations, personally demonstrating a positive culture that includes the key values and behaviours of safety and quality.

Shift pattern: 10 on, 4 off; working hours 12 noon to 22:30.

Daily Tasks
  • Regular communication and reporting to multiple stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of projects, including coordination of subcontractors.
  • Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to carry out activities to the required standards, programme and budget.
  • Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, material procurement, resource and cost plans.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub‑Agent.
  • Conduct site evaluations, develop Health & Safety and Quality documentation, provide technical expertise, prepare reports and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • People management, including junior engineers, site engineers, sub‑contractors and operatives.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of site experience, including setting out, utilities and earthworks.
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
  • IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD 3D.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Due to the nature of the work and location, a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary.
Desirable
  • CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC.
  • BIM/Digital including planning software (P6, Aphex, MS Project).
  • Awareness of commercial processes.
  • Leadership and organisational skills.
