About the Role

TeacherActive is looking for a Teaching Assistant in Newcastle. The role offers the chance to work within local schools, helping to create a culture of success and positivity towards learning. You will support pupils daily, whether in short‑term or long‑term assignments, and help them thrive toward success.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver day‑to‑day support to pupils, including individualised 1:1 help when required.
  • Assist teachers in lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Support pupils with SEND needs, adapting learning to their individual requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, calm and well‑organised environment.
  • Record and report pupils’ progress and ensure safeguarding policies are followed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • SEND Teaching Assistant experience.
  • Experience working within a Secondary setting.
  • Solid understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection.
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification and/or at least 6 months experience in an educational establishment.
  • Experience supporting young people on a 1:1 basis (desirable).
