This is an exciting post that will offer a unique stepping stone opportunity for a Senior Adult Neurology Clinical fellow with a long-term career interest in Adult Neurogenetics.
There is real potential for the right candidate to become a permanent colleague with these teams.
While the base location is embedded within the Adult Neurology Department in Salford NCA it offers the opportunity of training and experience in rare genetic disorders two of which have NHS England HSS status in the Genomic Centre of Medicine St. Mary`s Manchester. These are HSS Complex NF1 and NF2. Additional duties in St. Marys will include input into the Regional Huntington service.
Both HSS (NF1 and NF2) services are part of National Networks with clinical, academic and research opportunities. Both services are benchmarked with other National Centres (4 for NF2) and (1 for complex NF1) with annual audits and outcomes presented at Annual NHS England CQUINN. (2023-2024 data attached)
Three days of the week (6 sessions) will be dedicated to Complex NF1 as outlined in the job plan below.
This role will also include general neurology clinics and exposure to subspeciality services in Neurology at MCCN.
MCCN covers the region of 3.1 adult million population and there will be opportunities to work within specialist movement disorder, neuromuscular disorders, cognitive neurology and neurometabolic disorders.
