About The Role

Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service?

Are you passionate and committed to providing a positive student experience? We are seeking an experienced Duty Supervisor to work as part of a diverse team providing campus Safety and Security and supporting students, staff and visitors on our Penryn and Falmouth Campuses.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and inspirational team leader who will be able to support the Duty Manager in the on‑going development of a modern campus safety and security service.

As Duty Supervisor you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of operational security services prioritising and allocating tasks, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to, and supervising contracted personnel throughout the duration of their shift.

Working across all University sites you will supervise the Security Officers and in the absence of the Duty Manager, you will be expected to oversee operational activities, escalating, when necessary, more serious incidents to the Security Operations Manager.

Within the Campus Safety and Support Team all staff will be able to provide pastoral care by identifying and resolving student issues with empathy and sensitivity. You will have a genuine compassion towards the mental health challenges facing young people and be committed to providing a positive student experience.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have experience of working in a supervisory or team leader role and a high level of experience of working in customer‑facing roles. Alongside these key skills, you will need effective communication skills and the ability to apply confidentiality and tact to difficult or challenging situations, as well as being able to take ownership of situations and make independent decisions.

The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to prioritise own workload and delegate/supervise the work of others.
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety awareness.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to write accurate reports.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to remain resilient and calm when challenged.
  • Effective and thoughtful judgement with the ability to assess situations calmly and effectively, whilst prioritising wellbeing and safety.

A background in security is not essential as a full training package will be provided to ensure you have the knowledge and skills to work in this unique environment.

Due to the nature of the role, you will also be required to undergo a standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check.

The hours for this position are 42.46 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 12 hours per shift working 19:30 pm to 7:30 am.
