Job summary

A local government organization in Bromley is looking for a Return Home Interview Worker for an initial 3-6 month temporary contract with possible extension or permanent position. Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Bromley Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Return Home Interview Worker this role will be: BR1 1AS Hybrid 3 days in office 2 days remote

The right candidate will:

The Atlas Service is a wraparound service which sits within the front door (Children & Families Hub and Referral and Assessment Service ) of Children’s Social Care. The ATLAS team works with young people who go missing from home or care and those young people who are at risk of exploitation. Return Home Interview Officers undertake interviews with young people after a missing episode and often help young people makes sense of their experiences.

As Return Home Interview Officer you will:

  • meet with children and young people following their return home from being missing to explore and understand their reasons, the risks and their experiences whilst they were missing.
  • you will work closely with young people, their parents / carers, social workers, and other professionals to reduce the risk of going missing and to increase safety when they are away from home.
  • You Will provide advice, information and support about services and safety mechanisms young people and parents could use to increase safety.

We require the following:

  • You will need to have experience of supporting vulnerable children and young people from a variety of backgrounds and with complex needs and being an advocate for them.
  • You have a knowledge of how to engage young people as individuals as well as within their peer networks and contexts.
  • You will have the confidence to work with risk that occurs outside of the home e.g. exploitation, substance misuse, missing episodes, peer associations, and difficulties in education. You must have knowledge of relevant Safeguarding Legislation, Policies and Procedures and be able to undertake visits and complete assessments and reports top a good standard.
