Job description
New Goods Manager | £14.21 per hour

At Dorothy House Retail, our 30 vibrant charity shops and our central warehouse work together to raise vital income that supports outstanding end‑of‑life care for our local community.

Our Corsham Warehouse is the operational heartbeat of our retail network – a fast‑paced, collaborative environment where new goods, donations, logistics and retail support all come together.

From efficient stock management to sustainable retail practices, every part of our warehouse and retail estate plays a crucial role in helping us deliver our promise: that no one faces death alone.

We are now seeking a dedicated, proactive and experienced individual to join our team as New Goods Manager, leading the flow of new goods from supplier to warehouse to shop floor – ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time, maximising sales potential, and supporting our shop teams across the estate.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Oversee new goods – receiving, checking, storage, pricing, picking, packing, and dispatch, ensuring stock flows smoothly into shops and to online customers.
  • Decide what new goods to buy, when, and in what quantities – using sales data, current trends, and close collaboration with senior retail leadership and shop teams.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all new goods across our retail estate – managing supplier relationships, placing orders, negotiating terms, arranging deliveries.
  • Ensure all new goods are correctly processed through our EPOS/inventory system, identifying and reporting any discrepancies to the Retail Support Manager.
  • Implement and refine stock‑management and merchandising processes, delivering efficiencies and aligning with the retail budget.
  • Develop and grow Dorothy House’s social media presence for new goods, leveraging appropriate platforms to support trends and digital retail initiatives.
  • Lead and manage a small team of Retail Support Assistants and volunteers – recruitment, training, scheduling, PDRs, and volunteer engagement.
  • Work closely with the Warehouse & Fleet Manager to coordinate transport and timely delivery of stock to shops.
  • Undertake regular stock takes at the new goods hub and deliver accurate reports for finance and retail support teams.
  • Provide timely support and advice to shops about new goods availability, pricing, and stock‑flow planning.

Occasional shop support may be required – including short‑term shop‑management duties if needed.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a part‑time position. You will be contracted to work 18 hours per week over 3 days.
