Job description
Overview

Residential Support Worker Children - Uxbridge at Virtual Bridges. Ofsted-registered residential home for adolescent boys with Learning Disabilities and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This role is suitable for someone with a QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care, promoting the health, welfare, education and development of young people.
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and homely environment where young people feel secure and valued.
  • Support daily routines, including household tasks, appointments, education, leisure activities and family contact.
  • Build positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Assist with keyworker responsibilities, contributing to care plans and progress reviews.
  • Apply de-escalation and behaviour management strategies when required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, social workers and external professionals.
  • Participate in training and professional development, including undertaking the Diploma Level 4 in Residential Childcare (sponsored after probation).
Shift pattern
  • Rolling rota of 1 day on, 2 days off.
  • Requirement of 12.5 shifts per month, including sleep-ins (shared within the team).
Requirements
  • QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent (essential).
  • Experience working with young people in a residential, educational, or care setting.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging behaviour calmly.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards.
  • Driving licence desirable (occasional travel with young people is required).
