Job description
Overview

Flogas Britain is seeking a proactive and technically minded Renewable Projects Engineer to play a key role in the design, delivery, and analysis of pioneering renewable fuel demonstrator projects.

Flogas are pursuing several low carbon fuel projects including a three-year initiative to grow and process biomass feedstock into renewable dimethyl ether (rDME), which will be blended with LPG to create a sustainable, lower-carbon energy source; a project with Cardiff University to demonstrate the worlds first ammonia fuelled steam boiler; and a collaboration between DCC and SHVE to explore sustainable opportunities for the generation of renewable liquid gas (rLG) and renewable and recycled carbon dimethyl ether (rDME).

The role combines engineering design, data analysis, and planning ensuring the projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification. This position will suit an engineer or technical professional with experience in renewable energy systems, biofuels, or chemical process development, who enjoys seeing a project through from concept to operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, design, and delivery of the upcoming demonstrator projects.
  • Manage the technical design checks, engineering specifications, and partner interfaces required for small-scale asset builds.
  • Oversee data collection and analysis to validate feedstock yields, conversion efficiencies, and blend performance.
  • Support the development of project documentation, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
  • Work closely with academic, and industrial partners to identify and deliver future project successes.
  • Provide regular progress reports and technical insights to the Flogas leadership team.
  • Monitor regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance related to renewable fuel production and testing.
  • Contribute technical and commercial input to future scale-up opportunities based on demonstrator learnings.
About You

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience in biomass-to-liquid, biofuel, or renewable chemical projects.

  • Familiarity with UK renewable energy policy, grants, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Excel, and engineering design tools.
