What’s the role about?

You’ll be responsible for carrying out monthly independent visits and writing clear, insightful Ofsted-ready reports that highlight how children and young people are being supported and progressing. You’ll also:

  • Review behaviour management strategies and ensure effective support is in place by scrutinising how the home is supporting children to enjoy and achieve.
  • Examine records of restraint and missing person incidents to ensure the home provides safe and stable care.
  • Carry out private interviews with children and young people living at the home and their parents, relatives or carers. Staff employed at the home must also be interviewed privately.
  • Produce a written report on the conduct of the home after the visit and made available to HMCI, the registered manager, and anyone else with responsibility for the management of the home.

This role is key in supporting the ongoing performance and development of our homes, so prior experience working directly with Ofsted is a big advantage.

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 18 month’s experience managing a Residential Children’s Home
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • A full driving licence and access to a car
  • In-depth understanding of Ofsted regulations and expectations
