Job description
The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for delivering independent inspection and quality control services for a prestigious UK Defence project located near Reading.
Position Summary

The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for delivering independent inspection and quality control services for a prestigious UK Defence project located near Reading. Operating within a highly secure environment, the inspector will review fabrication and manufacturing documentation, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and support the quality requirements of nuclear‑related equipment and pressure systems. The role requires a British‑born UK passport holder due to security clearance requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Delivering independent inspection and quality control services at operating sites and vendor locations for new equipment in manufacture, fabrication, and construction.
  • Inspecting equipment ranging from Class 1 nuclear pressure equipment to items manufactured and installed to conventional codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Reviewing fabrication/manufacturing documentation within delegated authority levels, including:
  • Quality plans
  • ITPs
  • Fabrication/manufacturing procedures
  • Welding procedures
  • NDE procedures
  • Compilation and review of LTQRs
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Strong working knowledge of UK inspection requirements within the nuclear industry or relevant transferable experience from other high‑hazard industries.
  • Experience and understanding of nuclear and conventional codes and standards related to pressure equipment and pressure systems, including:
  • EN13445
  • EN13480
  • PD5500
  • ASME VIII
  • Associated material, welding, and NDE standards
  • Ability to demonstrate a proactive and self‑motivated approach to both technical and non‑technical tasks.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Weld Inspector with the following:
  • CSWIP 3.1/3.2
  • PCN Level II Magnetic Particle Inspection or PCN Level II Dye Penetrant Testing
  • PCN Level II Radiographic Interpretation
