Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Aerospace, Space, or Defence quality roles.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T per BS 8888 and ASME Y14.5.
  • ISO9001 / AS9100 auditing qualifications are advantageous.

Where possible, we support a working pattern that suits your lifestyle and helps you reach your ambitions.**Job Title**: Quality Assurance Assessor - Machine Details **Location**: Belfast As a Quality Assurance Assessor, you will carry out detailed, automated and manual inspection of complex mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and finished products to ensure conformity with manufacturing documentation and industry standards. You'll be required to have proficiency in programming and operating automated Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), maintaining calibration and certification processes, conducting audits, and leading quality investigations within a regulated aerospace, space, or defence manufacturing environment.**Key Responsibilities:*** Perform detailed automated/manual inspections of complex mechanical parts and assemblies using calibrated measuring equipment.* Execute product walk-throughs and approve relevant work instructions.* Program, operate, and maintain automated CMM systems (e.g., Mitutoyo, PCDMIS).* Manage calibration status of measuring equipment using internal controls and external calibration services.* Maintain Certificates of Conformity and other quality documentation for delivered and manufactured items.* Collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors to maintain understanding and compliance with quality requirements.* Conduct internal audits aligned with AS9100 and Space standards and drive continuous improvement in quality practices.* Oversee calibration management for both electronic and mechanical measuring devices.* Perform manufacturing process verification audits to ensure design and standards compliance.* Lead root cause analyses and quality investigations using quality tools (8D, 3C, etc.).* Support additional manufacturing quality-related tasks, including multitasking across onsite areas as needed.**Qualifications & Experience:*** Minimum 3 years’ experience in Aerospace, Space, or Defence quality roles.* Level 4 education or equivalent relevant industry experience.* Strong knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), per BS 8888 and ASME Y14.5 standards.* Demonstrated understanding of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes according to AS9102.* ISO9001 / AS9100 auditing qualifications are advantageous.* Experience programming Mitutoyo and/or PCDMIS CMM software preferred.**Thales Benefits:*** 28 days annual leave (Plus Bank Holidays)* Pension contributions up to 7%* Healthcare Cash Plan* Life insurance* Stock options (SharingThales) every 2 years* Enhanced maternity and parental leave.* Generous training budget and allowance to attend conferences/workshops.* Gym and well-being memberships, Cycle to Work* Discounts on major retail outlets* 24/7 Employee Assistance Program and access to mental wellbeing app#LI-MC1In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
