The closing date is 29 December 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and committed Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to join the North Cumbria At Risk Mental State Service (ARMS).

The ARMS service is a small multi-disciplinary team offering interventions to try to prevent the onset of psychosis. We welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in working with young people and adults aged 14-35 who are thought to be at risk of developing psychosis. This is an exciting and developing service which is research active. The team is an independent service but works closely with local Early Intervention in Psychosis services.

Main duties of the job

As a core team member you will provide specialist psychological assessment, individual and group interventions, to service users in collaboration with colleagues. You will also support the wider team with assessment, formulation and care planning as well as offer supervision and consultation. In addition, you will contribute to training initiatives and innovative service developments, in support of the provision of compassionate, trauma informed care and high quality, evidence-based interventions that promote wellbeing and recovery. There are opportunities to contribute to audit and research and the service has well-established links to local training providers.

This role will suit qualified therapists who hold an accredited registration with the BABCP or newly qualified CBT therapists working towards accreditation - this is essential.
