A prestigious landlord in the City of London is seeking a Property Accountant to manage property accounting and support Property Surveyors. The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in property accounts and service charge accounting, along with strong communication and Excel skills. Property Accountant (client side)

West End/London

£40-£45k + bonus and excellent pension

The role: An excellent opportunity for a Client/Service Charge Accountant with 2-5 years experienceto move client side to manage a portfolio of properties within the Property Management department, providing support to Property Surveyors to ensure clear and accurate accounting to the tenants and finance department.

Duties:
  • Set up new properties on the systems
  • Ensure all charge raising is complete for monthly and quarterly periods.
  • Handle the void funding demands in line with the service charge budgets.
  • Have responsibility for annual insurance premiums and to reconcile recharges.
  • Monitor property funding
  • Input service charge budgets, updating the on-account charge; apportionments and void funding for each property.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of service charges
  • Reconcile annual service charges.
  • Arrange external audits, answering all queries as required.
  • Handle the demands for the excess/surplus from the tenants to close the accounts within four months of the year end.
  • Complete the cash reconciliations
  • Carry out quarterly review of income v budget
  • Reconcile service charge bank accounts on a quarterly basis.
  • Assisting with the quarterly reporting and VAT Liability
  • Finance Department quarterly and deal with VAT queries on a timely basis.
Requirements:
  • 2-5 years experience in a residential or commercial property accounts environment
  • Previous experience of service charge accounting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good Excel skills
