A leading water utility company in the UK seeks Graduate Project Managers to join its Capital Programmes Team. This role offers the opportunity to manage vital projects that ensure sustainable drinking water for local communities. We’re looking for candidates with the energy, drive and willingness to challenge to become the next generation of Engineering Project Managers working within our Capital Programmes Team.
You’ll be using your academic and people skills to help us ensure that we can continue to supply our customers in our region with high quality, sustainable and affordable drinking water 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. You will be part of the teams that are managing projects that impact both today and the future. We’re looking for candidates we can invest in for the long term, who’d like to learn and develop to Engineering Project Managers project engineering roles within Affinity Water in the next 5 years.
With dedication and hard work, by the end of the programme, you’ll not only have a comprehensive overview of all aspects of your technical specialism, you’ll also have learned about other areas of our business such as planning and operations, and you will be equipped with the key foundational skills & knowledge to have a successful career in Affinity Water.
You’ll be based at our Head office in Hatfield but also be travelling throughout our company area stretching from Dover in the south to Clacton in the east, as well as our home county regions in and around London.
As a Graduate we appreciate you won’t be the finished article just yet, but you will need to have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in civil Engineering or project management.
You will also need to have strong numerical fluency, analytical capabilities and skills in technical report writing. Additionally, we want applicants who have a desire to understand complex projects and programmes, who are excellent communicators and who are curious.
Importantly, any successful applicant will also be interested in learning from technical and industry-leading experts on wide-ranging topics including improving biodiversity, managing water resources, asset health and resilience, water treatment technologies and processes and developing strategies to safeguard our company’s future. You’ll be motivated to seek professional development and accreditation with an appropriate professional body and find ways to put your learning into practice on a daily basis.
Ultimately, you’ll be on the fast-track to a project management role in an industry that’s trying to solve one of the major sustainable challenges of the 21st century, while making a positive difference to the local environment and local communities.
