Project Manager

Overview

Project Manager for the DfE’s Technical Advisor Services programme, acting as liaison between schools, the delivery team and the wider DfE. Responsibilities include keeping DfE forecasts up to date for cost, programme and risk, and maintaining records of received and generated information.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team to develop feasibility study & concept design.
  • Procure and manage contractors from PCSA to defects.
  • Report progress to DfE.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts for budget, risk, programme and scope.
  • Maintain project records and documentation.
  • Arrange touch‑point meetings with DfE SMEs for project assurance.
  • Support the DfE Project Manager through project gateway reviews.
  • Facilitate lessons‑learned workshops.
  • Mobilise projects and arrange site surveys.
  • Conduct GAP analysis of DfE outlines and develop the project brief.
  • Prepare the risk register and manage risks.
  • Lead the production of the feasibility study.
  • Capture school‑specific needs for the project brief.
  • Prepare Control Option concept design and tender documents.
  • Present feasibility study and Control Option to stakeholders.
  • Procure contractors via the DfE’s CF25 framework.
  • Monitor contractor progress through concept design to proposals.
  • Ensure all contract documentation, notifications and certificates are saved to DfE’s systems.
  • Administer construction and defects phases.
  • Handle contract administration and close‑out reporting.
  • Prepare post‑occupancy evaluations and project close‑out reports.
  • Ensure handover criteria and documentation are met.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education capital construction experience.
  • Experience managing JCT contracts.
  • Qualified professional with at least 5 years post‑professional qualification (preferred).
  • Member of APM (MAPM) with an aspiration to chartered status.
  • Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • UK driving licence.
