Role description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Controller to join our Water Optimisation team and provide support with ongoing Capital Programmes for major clients in the Water Industry including National Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs). You will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of projects and programmes by leading the implementation and management of project controls processes. With advanced expertise in SAP, you will ensure all controls are efficiently managed and compliant with required standards. You will contribute to process improvement initiatives, support stakeholder engagement, and provide training to colleagues and clients on best practices. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all project deliverables are met within agreed timeframes and budgets, risks are clearly identified and communicated, and that a culture of best practice is embedded across all project teams.

Role accountabilities
  • Set up and maintain project financials in SAP.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditure, and commitments.
  • Support monthly reporting cycles.
  • Work with project managers and finance teams to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Assist with change management and risk tracking in SAP.
  • Manage the effective communication of management information, including progress, status, and risk, and produce robust analysis to support project decision‑making.
  • Provide technical and leadership coaching, manage and mentor junior staff, and oversee daily operations to maintain high standards and operational excellence within the team.
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients, internal teams, and third‑party contractors, driving collaboration and negotiating solutions to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong subject matter expertise in own discipline.
  • Has commercial acumen and the ability to manage relationships with and influence external stakeholders.
  • Experience of leading and implementing business change solutions.
  • Experience in managing business relationships at mid‑to‑senior management level.
  • Expert proficiency in SAP; experience with P6 is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Attainment of or near attainment of relevant professional certification or chartered status.
