Take the first step in a career you’ll love. We’re committed to developing your skills and talents. You will learn on the job, gaining a recognised Level 3 Production Assistant apprenticeship qualification through one of our learning providers.
Launch a career at the heart of British broadcasting. Depending on your placement area you may work behind the scenes on exciting productions—from gripping dramas to live radio—and help bring ideas to life. This is your opportunity to broaden your production knowledge while working on content that matters to millions.
You will learn both on and off the job—attending learning blocks (up to a week at a time) with our provider to achieve the apprenticeship qualification. Learning blocks mix in‑person and virtual delivery.
We value potential over formal qualifications, looking for transferable strengths and a passion for world‑class content delivery.
Non‑graduates only. If you hold a degree, please apply for other BBC roles or consider other apprenticeship schemes.
For candidates under 19 by 8 September 2026: you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) or National 5 (Scotland) at C or Functional Skills Level 2. If not, you will need to attain Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of the apprenticeship.
Please place a “Candidate Profile” and answer a few questions. No CV or cover letter required.
Eligible candidates will be guided through the next steps and expectations.
As this is a fixed‑term apprenticeship (13 months), you will be supported with career development, employability training and networking opportunities to aid your future career—whether at the BBC or elsewhere.
This job description is a written statement of the essential characteristics of the role, including its primary accountabilities, skills, knowledge and experience required for satisfactory performance. It is not intended to be a complete, detailed account of all duties.
All apprenticeship roles may be subject to the requirements of the training provider and any necessary skill‑scan process. Conditional offers will be made subject to satisfactory employment screening checks.
We welcome applications from individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio‑economic background, religion and/or belief. We strive to build an inclusive workplace where all feel valued, thrive and achieve their full potential.
