Product Specialist – Medium and High Voltage (MVHV) Cable Systems

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical contact for customer inquiries, providing clear and accurate information about UL’s Medium and High Voltage (MVHV) Cable products and services.
• Collaborate closely with sales teams to support pre‑sales activities, including technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution development.
• Gather and analyze customer feedback and requirements, translating them into actionable insights for the product and engineering teams.
• Work with engineering and product development to ensure customer needs are considered in product design and enhancements.
• Represent UL’s technical strengths and capabilities in customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, FAQs, and training materials to support internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor industry trends and competitor offerings to inform product strategy and positioning.
• Enhance and advance a zero‑incident safety culture and behavior. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
• Perform other duties as directed.
• Travel 50‑75% of the time to customer facilities and job sites, including global travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree or technical certifications are a plus.
• 5‑8 years of relevant experience in a technical customer‑facing role, such as product support, technical sales, or solutions engineering.
• Strong understanding of product development processes and technical concepts.
• Very good English language proficiency.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non‑technical audiences.
• Proven ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Able to handle multiple assignments concurrently without direct supervision.
• Customer‑centric mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
• Experience in the testing, certification, or compliance industry is a plus. Knowledge of and experience with industrial and international standards for MV/HV cable systems, such as ICEA/AEIC, IEEE, IEC, and CIGRE, is desirable.
• Working experience in medium and high voltage (MVHV) cable systems, MVHV or high power laboratories, manufacturers, utilities, developers, EPCs is a plus.
