Process Metallurgist / Forging Process Engineer

Job Description

Special Quality Alloys is a member of the Special Steel Group of Companies and a market leader in supplying the oil & gas and other engineering industries with forged and rolled products in nickel-based super alloys and stainless steels. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking a Process Metallurgist / Forging Process Engineer to join our successful business. We welcome applications from experienced individuals or newly qualified engineers.

After suitable training, duties will include:

  1. Process Metallurgist: Routing stock or forging jobs to produce materials meeting various customer and international specifications; contract review of sales orders; providing technical and quality support to the sales department before and after contract award; producing pre-production documentation for a wide range of projects and products, including customer meetings; witnessing and recording forging processes at suppliers.
  2. Forging Process Engineer: Writing procedures for forging orders and tooling; witnessing and recording forging processes; setting and checking furnace temperatures; undertaking internal heat treatments of tooling and development work; scheduling temperature surveys; liaising with forging team members and the technical team.
Skills Required

Experience in the steel industry is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided. Candidates should be degree qualified in an engineering discipline, numerate, computer literate, possess excellent communication skills, have strong attention to detail, and work well within a busy team.
