Role Description

Our Process Operative plays a critical role in the manufacturing and refurbishment of gas turbine components. This position involves blending, fettling, and abrasive blasting using grit or glass media to achieve precise surface finishes required for further downstream processing. The role demands high attention to detail, ability to work using a range of hand tools on close tolerance work, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate manual, walk-in, and automated grit/glass blast machines to clean and finish turbine components.
  • Remove coatings such as thermal barrier coatings (TBC) and bond coats prior to inspection or repair.
  • Perform blending and fettling of turbine blades and vanes using hand tools, grinders, and pneumatic equipment to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface defects.
  • Mask components to protect critical surfaces from blasting or blending operations.
  • Inspect finished operations for surface profile, cleanliness, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Follow technical specifications and internal process sheets for surface preparation standards.
  • Document production activities and maintain accurate records.
