Overview

Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) opportunity within Stantec’s Energy team. This role involves working on a wide variety of projects across technical disciplines for clients nationwide, including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, and connection schemes. The role supports FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects, collaborating with other disciplines and key T&D clients in the UK.

You will join a growing, collaborative team that develops innovative and sustainable solutions to industry challenges and supports the UK energy transition.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects and support/lead FEED and detailed design.
  • Contribute to refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects, coordinating with other disciplines.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders, applying knowledge of HV substation plant electrical power systems and associated components.
  • Coach and work within the broader energy team; share knowledge and promote best practices.
  • Contribute to innovative solutions addressing efficiency and environmental challenges in the energy sector.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer, with design and specification production experience for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and components.
  • Understanding of P&C aspects is preferable.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and capable of engaging with the engineering community; able to contribute to team success and client solutions.
