- Umbrella/Ltd: £55.00 per hour

About the Role

Castle Point Borough Council is looking for a committed and seasoned Principal Planning Policy Officer to join their Development Services team. This role offers the chance to guide and shape the planning policy framework in a vibrant area that includes four towns and beautiful rural landscapes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Planning Policies:
    • Create and revise local planning policies and strategies.
    • Align with national and regional planning guidelines.
  • Lead Policy Projects:
    • Oversee complex planning policy projects from start to finish.
    • Conduct public consultations and engage with essential stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Perform in-depth research and data analysis to inform policy making.
    • Generate comprehensive reports and presentations for council sessions and external parties.
  • Collaborate and Advocate:
    • Collaborate with the Development Control team to ensure adherence to policies.
    • Represent the Council at public inquiries and hearings.
  • Provide Expert Advice:
    • Give expert planning policy advice to council members and the public.
    • Guide and assist junior planning officers in the department.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Educational Background: A degree in planning or a related discipline.
  • Professional Qualifications: Preferably a Licentiate or full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
