A leading engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking a Principal Engineer (P&C) to review and approve design submissions for National Grid projects. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering and proven experience in P&C design. Responsibilities include assessing compliance with engineering standards, chairing design review meetings, and identifying risks related to safety and performance. This role offers flexible working conditions with travel required across the UK.

With over 110 staff the company has delivered critical infrastructure for clients including National Grid, helping to shape the UK’s evolving energy system.
Principal Engineer (P&C), is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and approving Protection and Control design submissions for National Grid and/or Distribution Network Operator (DNO) projects. This role ensures that designs for substations, transformers, switchgear, and other HV infrastructure comply with National Grid / DNO engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
The successful candidate will work closely with National Grid / DNO, Contractors, internal Engineering and Design teams, and Project Managers to ensure the timely delivery of safe, reliable, and compliant designs.
Experience of the UK Electricity Transmission and/or Distribution System is preferable, but not essential for this role.

Home based, with the option of working from Omnia offices (Stafford, Stockton Heath and Northallerton), as per project requirements. Must be willing to travel anywhere throughout the UK. Possible job locations: UK, Ireland, Poland
Working Hours:
Ideally full time but may consider part time staff positions.
