The Role
As a Principal Engineer – Modern Workplace & Identity InfoSec, you will be a senior technical leader responsible for setting the direction across multiple technologies in IT within the modern workplace.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be combining deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and play a pivotal role in solving complex, cross‑cutting business challenges by applying technical insight and collaborating across organisational boundaries.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with architecture, assisting with defining the technical strategy and architecture for complex systems and platforms
  • Providing hands‑on technical leadership across your team ensuring high‑quality engineering outcomes
  • Leading the resolution of complex, cross‑functional technical challenges
  • Championing modern engineering practices including DevOps, CI/CD test automation, and cloud‑native development
  • Influencing and shaping technology strategy by aligning engineering decisions with the broader organisation
  • Mentoring and developing engineering talent whilst providing technical governance

Essential experience of the Principal Engineer – Modern Workplace & Identity InfoSec:

  • Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 technologies and Endpoint Management
  • Previous experience mentoring and technically leading a team
  • The ability to be able to automate and script in PowerShell
  • Proven experience speaking with senior stakeholders and delivering high‑impact technical solutions
  • A Strong knowledge of security, compliance, and risk management in digital environments
  • Previous experience working with Identity and infosec technologies

Essential qualifications for the Principal Engineer – Modern Workplace & Identity InfoSec:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Hybrid working patterns are available. Shift patterns for this role are between 0730 – 1830 and requires participation in an on‑call rota.
