A local government authority in Cardiff is seeking a Prevention Prison Officer to provide support for clients transitioning from prison to find suitable accommodation. The role requires innovative problem-solving and teamwork to assist homeless individuals effectively. Experience in housing legislation and a dedication to high-quality customer service are essential. This is a full-time temporary position until December 2026, highlighting the need for strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work flexibly.
Housing Options provide assistance, and the Council's corporate duty to help clients who are homeless or under threat of becoming homeless. The service provides assistance to often vulnerable people when they are at greatest need.
Prevention Prison officer will complete homeless assessments for clients with prison release dates. The post holder will help them find and move into new accommodation through innovative solutions.
The post holder will provide a bespoke service to prison leavers working closely with the Probation Service and other agencies to ensure the correct help and support is provided upon release.
The post holder will need to have; team-working skills, the ability to produce innovative solutions and be forward-thinking to help develop the service. The post holder will be required to provide excellent outcomes for vulnerable clients and high-quality customer service.
Experience of homeless legislation and working with the public will be an advantage. You may be required to work until 19:00 hours to meet the demands of a very busy service.
This post is temporary until 1st December 2026.
