Job description
Position Available: Doncaster Church of Christ | Senior Minister
  • October 7, 2025
Church Overview

Doncaster Church of Christ (DCC) is a Christ‑centred, biblically grounded, and community‑focused church located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. As we prepare for the building of a new, architecturally integrated space within a high‑density residential development, we are embracing a fresh vision for ministry in an urban and culturally diverse setting.

Our church is affiliated with the Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania (CCVT) and is committed to the shared values and Church Safe practices of our movement.

In addition to our English‑speaking 10am and 5pm Sunday services, we have a weekly Mandarin Chinese congregation, reflecting our growing cultural diversity. We also have a growing Iranian community.

We are seeking a spiritually mature, relational, and visionary leader to guide us through this next season of growth, transition, and community engagement.

Profile of a Suitable Senior Minister
Visionary and Authentic Urban Leader

You demonstrate authenticity in recognising and engaging with the opportunities of medium‑density, urban ministry. Leading with integrity and a genuine presence in neighbourhood‑based mission, you can creatively guide a church that is deeply embedded within a residential development—embracing both its spiritual and social potential with sincerity, transparency, and relational depth.

Relational and Inclusive Pastor

Warm and approachable, with a servant heart, you are committed to compassionate pastoral care across all ages, cultures, and demographics. You foster belonging, honour diversity, and cultivate a safe, gracious, and accepting environment.

Theologically Grounded and Thoughtfully Curious

You are committed to discerning God’s will through Scripture and prayer. Rooted in a Christ‑centred, biblically informed faith, you remain open to spiritual exploration. You are able to help others navigate complexity and uncertainty in faith without judgement, or needing to resolve every question.

Collaborative and Empowering Leader

With an open mindset, you are able to work closely with the Church Council, staff, and ministry teams. You empower others, share leadership, and encourage broad participation across all church ministries.

Gifted Communicator and Teacher

An engaging preacher and teacher, you communicate with clarity, theological depth, and relevance to a diverse audience. You are capable of connecting the gospel to real‑life experiences.

Community‑Engaged and Missional

You hold a heart for outreach, relationship‑building, and interfaith collaboration—particularly with fellow Manningham churches and local service organisations.

Adaptive and Growth‑Oriented

Able to lead through change, recognise opportunities for spiritual and numerical growth, you can help the church evolve with its surrounding community.

Culturally Attuned and Multicultural in Heart

As our church transitions from a historically European‑Anglo base to a more multicultural identity—including growing Asian and Iranian communities—you celebrate diversity, encourage inclusion across cultures, and actively support our existing Chinese congregation and its leadership.

Remuneration: In accordance with CCVT recommendations and compliant with the Fair Work Act.

Eligibility: Open to Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents only.
