A regional business representation organization in Slough seeks a Policy and Skills Manager to develop policy activities and lead the Local Skills Improvement Plan. The role involves engaging with local MPs, government bodies, and educational institutions, enhancing the Chamber’s reputation as a leading business entity. This key position requires strong leadership, initiative, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will work in a full-time hybrid model and is expected to have experience managing a dynamic team.

We are looking for an individual to develop the Chambers policy activity, working with many of the region’s top global brands, education institutions and MPs, and lead in the delivery of our highly respected Local Skills Improvement Plan. The successful candidate will be experienced in managing a small dynamic team, show great initiative and able to work to tight deadlines.
This is a full-time hybrid role (35 hours a week, Monday to Friday), 2 days in the office (Slough based). We welcome applicants who are available term‑time only.
Salary - £44k per annum
The Policy and Skills Manager supports a wide-ranging and impactful, policy programme, representing the needs of our members and wider business community of the Thames Valley region.
This a dynamic role reports to the Head of the Business Representation and Policy Department, and engages local MPs, central and local government, further and higher education organisations and our members. In line with the policy priorities set out in the Chamber’s annual Business Manifesto, you will be working to enhance our position as the region’s leading, business‑led, organisation shaping the future policy and skills direction of the Thames Valley region.
The Policy & Skills Manager has oversight and responsibility for the Chambers in‑house Local Skills Improvement (LSIP) activity, working closely with appointed external consultants to fulfil our role as the employer representative body (ERB) for activity covering Berkshire and Oxfordshire. This activity is part of the Chambers “Thames Valley Skills Unit” (TVSU) and informs the wider work of our role as the voice of business.
