Responsibilities
- Patrol the local community, providing a visible presence and ensuring public safety.
- Investigate burglaries and other offences, gathering evidence and collaborating with the criminal justice system.
- Give evidence in court and support victims of crime throughout the investigative and recovery process.
- Maintain daily operations, report incidents accurately and maintain necessary record‑keeping.

How to Join
There are two routes of entry:
- Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) – a three‑year programme that delivers a BSc (Hons) in Professional Policing Practice while you work in the field. All qualification fees are covered by the Met.
- Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) – a two‑year programme that blends classroom and operational learning. Initial training occurs at a Met training centre before joining a policing team for practical experience.
