Job description

We’re looking for the second member of our Platform Engineering team to build, scale and own the infrastructure that powers Magentic's AI procurement solution. We have a very ambitious product vision, but we’re early in our building journey and are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to build a best‑in‑class infrastructure from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to join early enough to help build a high‑quality rocket ship, rather than rebuild it in flight.

We’re pushing the boundaries of AI with next‑generation agentic systems that can manage entire procurement workflows. Our mission is to make global manufacturing supply chains robust to an ever‑changing world – that’s a $3tn market opportunity. We’re backed by world‑class investors including Sequoia Capital, and you’ll be working along a super talented team that brings together expertise from OpenAI, Meta, Revolut, NASA and McKinsey.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, build and own the cloud‑native backbone that powers our AI agent workers at scale.
  • Shape a multi‑tenant, multi‑cloud platform (we deploy where our customers are) following IaC and GitOps best practices, while balancing speed, cost and security.
  • Work with the development team to design processes for secure software delivery (GitHub workflows, AI agent tooling for reviews, security and compliance).
  • Make our systems, both AI and non‑AI, highly observable.
  • Champion security, compliance and automation to turn them into an advantage, instead of friction.
You Might Be a Great Fit if You
  • Have deep cloud mastery of Azure and/or AWS.
  • Strong experience with containers and orchestration.
  • Are an enthusiastic student/hobbyist of AI able to leverage agent‑assisted development.
  • Have managed production clusters at scale with IaC in security‑certified companies.
  • Have experience working with development teams to make their lives easier.
  • Can take a loosely defined problem, sketch an architecture, and deliver a production‑ready solution in days or weeks, not months.
  • Have the experience to know what is needed now and what can come later.
  • Can communicate clearly with both engineers and business stakeholders.
Bonus Points
  • Experience designing self‑hosted, cloud agnostic, AI/ML infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure/platform experience in B2B settings, e.g. identity federation.
Compensation And Benefits
  • Competitive equity: play a real part in Magentic’s upside.
  • A salary of £105,000‑£115,000.
  • Hybrid London HQ (3‑4 days in the office).
  • Annual team retreat – a fully‑funded off‑site to recharge, bond, and build.
Our interview Process
  • Initial call (30 mins): opportunity to discuss your experience and how it aligns with the role.
  • Design interview with the CTO or Founding Engineer (45‑60 mins): whiteboard exercise on real problems Magentic encounters.
  • Culture interview with the Chief of Staff (45 mins): discuss working style, career goals, and fit.
  • In‑person interview (half‑day, paid): final step to meet the team and work alongside us.
  • CEO interview (30 mins): chance to meet Robin and hear about his vision for the company.
