Job description

Delivery Operations Planner - Hybrid - 2 days a week on site - Contract - Fixed Term (12 months)

Here at Ocado Logistics, it’s our mission to provide an outstanding customer experience for our partners, developing groundbreaking technology, opening multiple sites at an accelerating rate, and engaging in exciting new business partnerships around the world – changing the way the world shops, for good.

We are the beating heart of our UK business and comprise a network of cutting‑edge warehouses and offices across the country that ensure that we optimise the experience and use our proprietary technology across the supply chain to deliver an exceptional shopping experience. At the same time, we deliver bags of possibilities for our employees and a career that will ensure no two days are ever the same.

About the role:

We wouldn’t be able to positively impact the way the world shops without our passionate team members who keep our business running, our vans delivering, and our proprietary technology operating at optimum levels. We are currently looking for a Delivery Operations Planner to join our Planning team, on a 12‑month fixed term contract.

In this role, you will be the architect of our operational success, ensuring we have the right people in the right place at the right time. As a Planner, you will manage manpower resources for our 24/7 operation, balancing customer demand with budget requirements and employee wellbeing to ensure our groceries reach customers on time, every time.

You will be:
  • Managing complex resource plans by balancing headcount, overtime, and agency requirements to meet fluctuating operational KPIs.
  • A key collaborator working across Logistics Operations, Finance, and People teams to resolve roster queries and escalate capacity constraints.
  • The guardian of data integrity for Time and Attendance systems, ensuring all holiday entitlements and shift swaps are processed accurately.
  • A driver of efficiency by identifying cost‑saving opportunities and improvements within the department’s scheduling processes.
  • An adaptable professional supporting a 24/7 business, which includes working a shift‑based pattern with regular weekend rotations.
About you:

To be successful as our next Delivery Operations Planner, we are looking for individuals who thrive in fast‑paced environments and possess:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, particularly when responding to changing operational priorities under pressure.
  • High levels of numeracy and literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, G Suite, or similar data management tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage high volumes of administrative tasks accurately.
  • A proactive, self‑motivated attitude with the flexibility to travel to different UK sites as required by the business.
Interview Process

We want to get to know the person behind the CV! Our recruitment process for the Delivery Operations Planner role typically consists of:

  • Stage 1: An initial online interview focused on your core competencies and previous experience.
  • Stage 2: A final stage interview (online or in‑person) featuring a mixture of behavioural questions and a scenario‑based task to see how you approach real‑world planning challenges.
What you can expect to receive in return

At Ocado, we believe in a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported, so you’ll find a safe and collaborative atmosphere that is as fresh as our produce as well as an award‑winning recognition programme and benefits package.

  • Flexible Work: Enjoy 30 days of ‘work from anywhere’ policy for a balanced life.
  • Wellbeing Support: Access dedicated apps and an Employee Assistance Programme for holistic well‑being.
  • Generous Leave: Begin with 25 days, growing to 27 after 5 years, with an option to buy more.
  • Pension Plan: Secure your future with our pension scheme, featuring up to 7% employer contribution matching.
  • Private Medical Cover: Rest easy with comprehensive private medical insurance.
  • Family‑Friendly: Support for maternity, adoption, shared parental leave, and paternity leave.
  • Financial Aid: Interest‑free train tickets and a Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Shuttle Services: Convenient free shuttle buses connect you to work.
  • Share Schemes: Join exciting share plans to participate in our success.
  • Shopping Perks: 15% discount on Ocado.com and savings at popular retailers and restaurants.
