A caregiving agency in Maidstone is seeking a Personal Assistant for a young man registered blind. The candidate will assist with transportation, shopping, and ensure the well-being of the client. Trustworthiness, patience, and a clean driving license are essential. This is a permanent role offering £13.59/hr for 10 hours per week, with possible increases. Flexible hours and training provided for the right candidate.

Personal Assistant required to support a young man who is registered blind access sporting/keep fit events in the community and with his weekly shopping etc. It also involves help with any correspondence, possibly support attending appointments and keeping a watchful eye on his safety and wellbeing.
10 hours per week split over 3 working days (possible uplift to 12 hours per week)
Holiday entitlement under contract (pro rata statutory leave)
£13.59 per hour (awaiting possible uplift from KCC social services)
45p/mile whilst transporting client
Client is based in central Maidstone

The working days/hours are slightly flexible to suit candidate. A typical week might be:
Assistance with any correspondence, checking client’s well‑being, and support needs. Checking his flat is clean and safe.
Trustworthy & reliable, patient, kind, helpful and caring, polite, understanding and respectful, good communicator with a sense of humour.
The applicant must have a clean driving license and a suitable vehicle and insurance for business use. Previous experience/training in care work would be an advantage but is not essential as training can be provided.
The ideal candidate would be someone who is prepared to develop a caring relationship with someone with a disability and is prepared to go the extra mile to help the client live an inclusive and fulfilling life.
The applicant would ideally have an interest in sport/keep‑fit with a willingness to offer encouragement and occasional guidance suited to someone with a visual impairment.
The applicant will be required to submit monthly mileage/expense invoices and log their holidays.
This post is subject to suitable references and an Enhanced DBS, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
Selection will be via personal interview. The post might suit a person with schoolchildren.
