Job summary

A local support service provider in Pembrokeshire is looking for a Personal Assistant to support a 19-year-old client with additional learning needs. Responsibilities include assisting with community access, budgeting, and fostering independence. The role is part-time (5 hours per week) with a pay rate of £12.60 per hour. A full driving license and insurance for business use are required. This position comes with benefits including holiday pay and sick pay.

Personal Assistant

Reporting to : Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer, and they hold all the employer's responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

A Direct Payments client's parents in Pembrokeshire are looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support their 19‑year‑old son who has some additional learning needs in accessing the community, learning about budgeting and participating in activities of interest. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme; the successful applicant should be friendly and supportive, able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.

Main duties
  • Supporting the client with encouragement in gaining independence
  • Supporting the client with budgeting
  • Providing support to the employer while shopping and attending activities of interest
  • Enabling the client to interact socially in their community
  • Providing companionship in the client's home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing social interaction
  • Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during working hours
  • Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the client during working hours
  • Being mindful of safeguarding issues and reporting any concerns to the relevant authority
  • Contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if the employer needs medical assistance
