Job summary

An educational service provider in Storrington is seeking a Payroll and Accounts Assistant. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for key accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and management accounts. The ideal candidate has experience in an SME, knowledge of payroll systems, and proficiency in Xero and Excel. The position offers a rate of £16.83-£17.79 per hour for 25 to 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

This is an onsite, varied, and hands-on generalist role where you’ll lead on key accounting functions – from bank reconciliations, payroll, cash flow, and preparation of management accounts.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Reconcile bank accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process payroll on time.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reports.
  • Manage invoices, payments, and financial records with accuracy.
  • Support audits and compliance, keeping us financially sound.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in a small-to-medium enterprise (SME) environment.
  • Knowledge of HR and payroll systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proven experience in accounts, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, bank reconciliation, and cash flow management.
  • Proficient in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Good communication skills, capable of explaining financial information clearly.
JOB DETAILS
  • Hours:25 to 27.5 Hours per week (9am-3pm, Monday to Friday).
