A charitable organization is seeking a volunteer to promote Payroll Giving to enhance donations through employee salaries. The role requires creativity and organization to build relationships with HR departments and develop a database of contacts. We need a volunteer who can, gradually, in their own time, find companies that will promote our projects to their staff through Payroll Giving to encourage donations through their payroll.
The money you raise will help save and enhance many lives abroad by giving people a new start in difficult circumstances.
You will need to be friendly, creative, innovative and tenacious with some knowledge of how business works. Experience of Payroll Giving would be an advantage, but if you are outgoing and intelligent you will learn quickly. It will help if you are organized and can structure your time while building a business database of contacts. Useful skills include:
Payroll Giving, also known as Workplace Giving or Give As You Earn (GAYE), is a scheme for UK taxpayers to donate money to UK Registered Charities directly from their gross pay. The donations are taken before income tax, making it a tax-efficient way to give.
Your role would be to contact HR departments of companies that want to offer employees the opportunity to donate to our campaigns via their salaries. Payroll Giving is a government-backed initiative that makes charitable donations easy and efficient for both employees and employers. Donations are taken from gross salary, providing tax savings for employees.
We can receive money through various agencies, including donors who use Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). Our projects include building a new community in a safe area of South Sudan to house up to 600 refugees. See our website for more information. You will be building up contacts and simple systems to make the role work, develop a database of businesses/organizations, and reach out to HR departments/CEOs to present our organization and latest projects. You will report to the supervisor and will have regular Teams meetings as required. You will be supported by leaflets, our website, and our team.
